So I bought some chicken necks at Chuck&Don’s for the dogs the other day. I thawed out 3 for a treat - 1 for O, 1 for Titan, and 1 for the cats to share. I didn’t realize how small they were! Titan literally bit his in half and swallowed each half whole (keep in mind Titan is a 13lb dog). Orion is such a baby I had to hold it for him so he could chew pieces off. When I cut it up for the cats, Ganymede only ate the pieces without bones, he doesn’t really know how to chew. Callisto….SHE IS A PREDATOR, omg she pretty much ate the whole thing by herself because Ganymede is such a pussy (pun intended). She just nommed away, bones and all. I think I might save the other 3 for the cats only. I bought them for the dogs because chewing on meaty bones is good for their teeth, I just didn’t realize they were this small. Due to the size they’ll be better suited for the cats, and good for their teeth too. I might have to get turkey necks or chicken backs next time, they’re bigger and would actually have some chewing involved for Titan…or I could just stick with wings and drummies, whatever’s cheapest at the grocery store.
My mom is still so skeptical about feeding raw meat/bones to the dogs. I told her a chicken neck would be perfect for her little Yorkie Brody and she said “my dogs will NEVER get raw anything!” I think she is a little bit accepting just based on the fact that they sell this stuff at Chuck&Don’s now (even though it is so much cheaper to buy stuff at the butcher, however they only sell these things in cases and my freezer is a bit too small). She did say that is how people get salmonella and blah blah blah but really, I’ve done so much research and it’s kind of common sense: wolves eat turkeys and deer and etc etc and it’s all raw meat and bones. Also, my dogs have each eaten a few chicken wings now and the necks today and they are still healthy and happy. :)

I put Callisto in my room about 2 hours ago because the dogs were freaking out at her being under the couch. I should have just put her in the basement or something.
Just went in to go to bed and found a GIGANTIC pee spot in the middle of my bed. Literally everything on my bed was soaked through except for the mattress itself (luckilly). I’m also grateful that her pee was diluted enough so it doesn’t smell completely terrible, although cat piss is definitely the worst.
Looks like I’m sleeping on the couch tonight because all my stuff is soaking in Nature’s Miracle and in the laundry room. :(

I bought some raw beef marrow bones at Cub yesterday for the dogs. They were recommended by Orion’s obedience trainer to clean the tarter off his teeth. Somehow, he has more tarter than Titan, even with brushing, and Titan is 2 years older than him.
Anyway, I got 3 big bones for $6. I gave them each one yesterday (frozen) for about 45 mins, and gave it to them again tonight. My house is so quiet, I can’t handle it. Only problem is Titan is REALLY possessive of his bone, to the point where he’s even growling at me when I come near - he never does this to me, to Orion and the cats yes, but not to me…he got yelled at and stopped though.
ANYWAY, point being that after 45 minutes of chewing, I could visibly see the difference in Orion’s teeth which is awesome. Only concern I have is how hard the bones are - everything I’ve read says that beef marrow bones (femur/knuckle bones) can be very hard on dog’s teeth and can cause them to crack. Does anyone know anything about this, or what kind of raw bones would work better for teeth cleaning?
